Inpiaq translations for possible further use[edit source]

I found these translations and put them together:

  • mikiruq is small
  • mikiruq makpiġaaq small page

This page is small.

We can use these, along with further translation, to make "stub" templates.

  • atanġiqsauruq = is free
  • makpiġaat = book (no "encyclopedia")
  • is free book
  • book is free

(I'll find out how to say Wikipedia using the letters, because some have sounds completely different than English.)

Stub template[edit source]

EnglishItalianoNihongoRusski 20:25, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

I might have a (temporary) stub template set up, but may need correction:

Uumifa makpibaaq mikiruq. Uumifa makpibaaq savayuitchuq. Pigaatin muk ikayubaa.

This is currently the only way to show stub articles. If you see this, the article is a stub.

FA (A++) - F rating for articles[edit source]

What if we made templates ranging from Featured Article (FA) (A++) to F? Good way to class these low quality articles. You'll see these around. EnglishItalianoNihongoRusski 02:20, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Unicode[edit source]

WILL USE UNICODE

Use of the online Iñupiaq dictionary[edit source]

First, while writing iñupiaq is not impossible, it needs language (especially grammar) studies; combining words from the dictionary is not enough. There is one trap, however, which one should not go into, and that is the use of the online Iñupiaq dictionary without correcting its encoding.

The dictionary is made by people with little knowledge of character set encoding. Instead of using Unicode, they have put all the Iñupiaq letters into the ASCII table, making it impossible to write about, say, Bart, Jack, Fairbanks etc. in Iñupiaq. Here, on wikipedia, as elsewhere on the net we use Unicode. Entries from the online Iñupiaq dictionary should thus be translated into Unicode, according to the following table. The wordform tunixabaa from the frontpage should thus read tuniḷaġaa. All entries in the dictionary containing the non-Iñupiaq letters b, x, o, j, f, e should be translated according to the following table (cf. also the perl script on my user page.
